RESERVOIR COGS SPORTIVE

 

Fly Shimano Wheel ServiceWelcome to the first edition of the Reservoir Cogs Sportive a new unique event with 2 different starts and finishes and 4 different rides all on the same course.


This event promoted by Rutland Cycling and Grafham Cycling offers a great testing ride starting and finishing from their shops in Rutland Resevoir and Grafham Reservoir, Cambridgeshire.


Simply choose your start and finish shop and ride the unique figure of 8 course to visit the other shop en route.


The long route will offer a 100miles of the best countryside in the East Midlands covering many roads never used previously and with 4 well stocked feed points, full mechanical backup, goody bag, broom wagon, event photographer, fully timed and Shimano Wheel test fleet; this is a ride not to miss.


There are also 2 shorter rides starting from each shop over the same roads for those riders wanting to try a sportive for the first time or to wind down the season with something different.


This is a must for the calendar this year with all the major towns and cities in the area within easy reach on the day we expect a big turnout so enter early as there are only 500 places available from both shops.

Final information RESERVOIR COGS.

Welcome to first year of the new innovative Reservoir Cogs Sportive organised by Rutland Cycling and Grafham Cycling, with a unique 2 start and finish same route format. Plus 2 extra shorter rides for newcomers and those wishing an easier day in the saddle.

 

This sportive event will have a fully signed route, 4 feed points, timed rides and certificates, plus a mechanical back up available at each shop and en route from the Shimano BMW motorcycle.

 

Registrations are available on line or by paper entry from Wheels in Wheels Events or just pop into your local shop and complete the form. Entries will be available on the day at either shop as well.

 

EVENT TIMINGS

 

REGISTRATION will commence from 07.30 and close at 09.45 at each shop and the rides will start at :


RUTLAND CYCLING LONG RIDE 08.30.to 09.00
RUTLAND CYCLING SHORT RIDE 09.00 to 10.00

GRAFHAM CYCLING LONG RIDE 08.30 to 09.00
GRAFHAM CYCLING SHORT RIDE 09.00 to 10.00
GRAFHAM CYCLING, Marlow Car Park, Grafham Water, N r Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, PE28 0BH.

 

Registration is simple and your name will be listed alphabetical, sign on and collect your ride number to be displayed on the front of your cycle and your timing card which will clock you onto the ride as you leave and kept by the timing staff for safety. You can then start when you’re ready between the times listed. You can ride as a group or individually, but groups cannot exceed 15 at a time, and you will be set off at 2 minute intervals.

 

ROUTE and FEED POINTS

 

The route is fully arrowed and will have extra warning signs will be placed for your information and safety, please take notice of these at all times. Samples will be displayed at registration.

 

There are feed points on each route the shorter rides will have 1 feed and the long ride will have 3 en route these will listed at registration and well signed on the ride with 1km to go. They will have High5 products, energy drinks, bars and gels, plus cake, fruit and savouries and water. However please ensure you have a supply of energy products before you leave for your ride.

 

Please if the weather is warm have 2 bottles for the ride to ensure you are hydrated at all times.

 

MECHANICAL BACK UP and BROOM WAGON

 

Please have your bike checked before the ride and we expect all riders to be able to make minor repairs and fix punctures, the roving motorcycle will be able to fix some breakdowns and keep you on the road. However please note that the bike may take several minutes to reach you as they may be attending another rider at the opposite end of the route.

 

For more terminal breakdowns and failed legs we will have a pickup service to return you to your start point. This is an emergency service and again may be attending to other riders and take some time to collect you and your bike.
EMERGENCY TELEPHONE NUMBERS will be displayed at Registration and we ask you to make a note of these. (Parts of the course have very poor mobile signals so if you can advise another rider to pass on the information).
ACCIDENTS

 

If in the unfortunate circumstances should have an accident and you cannot continue and need medical attention please contact the emergency services and notify our emergency number and tell another rider with your ride number, to contact us.

 

SAFETY

 

The event is a SPORTIVE and is run under the HIGHWAY CODE at all times, and anyone found breaking the rules of the road will have their number removed and asked to leave the event.
Please take care at all times and be courteous to all road users and fellow cyclists.
