Wheels in Wheels Events launch their 2011 programme

October 4th sees the full 2011 Wheels in Wheels sportive programme go live with all events available to enter on line. We’ll also be at the Earls Court Cycle Show in London this week (Stand F13 - Black Sheep Sports Ltd) where you can sign up and receive a free gift on the day for any event entered.

All the Classic events return for 2011 and we also have two new exciting events enter the line up. June will be a busy month with two completely different challenges; an extended Pain on the Plain weekend and an all-new London to Paris ride.

The Pain on the Plain has now been extended into a weekend of different cycling activities over 4th & 5th June. Based at Tidworth Garrison, the sportive on the Sunday will offer three distances using a mix of public and private military roads and will once again feature the optional unpaved sections that proved very popular this year. Saturday sees two new events; a mountain bike Enduro event in the morning, which will be ideal training for those 24hr events later in the month, and a series of criterium road races in the evening. These short circuit races take place on closed roads around the Garrison and are run in conjunction with the Army Cycling Union. These races will also include a short ‘come and try’ race for all sportive riders who are not BC license holders to help warm up the legs for the next day.

Later in the month, our all new London to Paris ride takes place from 21st to 26th June and, like the Pain on the Plain event, all proceeds will go to the official Forces charity SSAFA. This Wheels in Wheels ‘Ride Like A Pro’ cross channel excursion will follow our successful Spanish camps formula with fully guided groups, mechanical back up service, motorcycle outriders, full nutritional support, arrowed route and top feeds en route. This 5 day 5-night ride will take you all the way from one iconic capital to the other via the battlefields of yesteryear in northern France where you will have plenty of time to stop and visit different locations along the away. The event finishes in the centre of Paris with a ride up the Champs Elysees to the Eiffel Tower where the celebrations start with a glass of the French bubbly. Entries are restricted to 100 riders only so early registration is recommended.

Our sportive season again kicks off with the popular Richardson’s Rumble to get your first 100mile or 100km of the year in. This introductory sportive has all the usual Wheels in Wheels support but without the killer route and is ideal for a first sportive ride.

All are made to measure either for race training, sportives or just social sunny cycling and we cater for all from self catering to full board. New for 2011 will be two locations north and south of the Island with great new routes all guided with the option of the ‘Ride Like A Pro’ back up.
