The Forest of Dean Spring Classic |
The 2009 edition of the Forest of Dean Spring Classic was another successful event from Wheels in Wheels CC. Nearly 700 riders took to the roads from Monmouth on a sunny spring morning and headed to the hills for a day in the saddle. With the route fully signposted there were no reports of anyone straying of the route and the countdown signs for the climbs also proved useful for entrants. With times ranging from 4.5 hours to over 8 hours, there was a constant stream of people around the finishing area giving a buzz to the marquee with tales from the road. The weather was perfect and the food and water stations were kept busy as riders topped up food and fluids in the sunshine.
As always, the organisers have taken on board any comments from the day and planning for next year’s event has already begun with a few changes. There will be 2 routes next year and the timing system will be reviewed to offer near instant results at the finish.
