DUVA INTERNATIONAL 2-DAY SPORTIVE MAJORCA
SATURDAY 24TH & SUNDAY 25TH APRIL 2010.

The Duva International Sportive based at the 4* Duva Hotel in Port de Pollenca offers everything a sportive should - mountain climbs, fast descents, beautiful scenery, sun and sea views all on closed roads, plus throw in a couple of laps of a track as well, and this is a classic event not to be missed.

Saturday’s 140km mountain challenge route takes in the three best climbs on the Island, plus a few leg stretchers beforehand. The first timed climb is the Orient followed by a food stop at the summit and then the magnificent Col De Soller before the next timed section, the 14km Puig Major (the Island’s longest climb). After a quick refreshment stop, it’s a fast decent back to the finish at the Duva Hotel for a well earned rest or massage. There will be also time to use the Spa facilities before your evening meal and a good night’s sleep.

Sunday’s 95kms route takes the route along the coast before turning inland and onto the day’s timed climb. A regrouping will see the peloton head towards the feed at the Sineu track where everybody can have a few laps of the outdoor track before lunch. The route then follows an undulating 45kms back to the Duva for a short rest and freshen up before the event presentations and evening party entertainment.

The event is run under Spanish sportive rules and controlled by the Police offering a full rolling road closure, backed up by the local equivalent of the National Escort Group (NEG), with full medical and mechanical support at all times. The event offers broom wagons for those who might need them, plus a signed route and full feed stops over both days.

The Duva International has a full photographic service recording you and your team’s efforts and all riders will receive a generous goody bag, finisher’s medal and ride diploma, plus a chance to win one of the ‘special awards’ at the presentation evening.

Entries are unlimited so everyone gets a ride, but this is not just a club run and riders should be prepared to ride at high teen’s average speeds during the controlled sections.

To help prepare, why not make the sportive a climax of a full week’s training camp run by the Duva- Wheels in Wheels Club Cyclista, or, just a fly in for a weekender trip. Bike hire can be arranged through our partner Procycle Hire of Pollenca.

We look forward to seeing you on the sunny island of Mallorca and at the 4*Duva Hotel in 2010.
